Vinnytsia massacre (1937–38)
On the Stalin’s Soviet Union map as “Vinnytsia”
1937–1938 — The NKVD shot thousands of Vinnytsia residents and buried them in the city’s orchard, cemetery and park. In 1943, German occupation authorities exhumed 9,439 bodies and used the discovery as propaganda. The history of the crime remained contested for decades.
