Volga famine (1932–33)

On the Stalin’s Soviet Union map as “The Volga famine”

1932–1933 — The famine reached the Lower and Middle Volga as well as Ukraine. In the Volga German Republic, grain quotas were pressed just as hard as in Ukraine. The regional tolls have received less study, but the Lower Volga alone may have lost up to 175,000 people to hunger.
