Kazakh famine (1930–33)
On the Stalin’s Soviet Union map as “The Kazakh famine”
1930–1933 — On the Kazakh steppe, forced settlement of nomads and seizure of their herds destroyed the livestock economy on which people depended. Between about 1.5 and 2.3 million people died, perhaps two-fifths of all Kazakhs. More than a million fled, some crossing the border into China.
