Kharkiv and the Holodomor (1932–33)
On the Stalin’s Soviet Union map as “Kharkiv, 1932–33”
Winter 1932–33 — From Kharkiv, the capital of Soviet Ukraine, the party enforced measures that confined starving villages. The blacklists of November 1932 cut “debtor” villages off from all goods, while a January 1933 directive stopped starving peasants from leaving. Kharkiv and Kyiv oblasts suffered the heaviest losses of the famine.
