Mongol invasion of Burma (1287)

On the Mongol Empire map as “Pagan falls”

1287 — Yuan columns descend the Irrawaddy, and the kingdom of eleven thousand temples fractures. Burma becomes a tributary. This is the Mongols’ last clear victory in the south, though the limits of their control are visible here too: garrisons melt in the heat, and the court soon rules through local kings.
