Victims of Chinese land reform (1950–52)
On the Mao’s China map as “The land-reform dead”
1950–52 — Land reform moves through the south and center with the work teams. Before village crowds, landlords and “local tyrants” are put on trial; many are shot or beaten to death. No complete count was kept. Estimates of the dead run from about one million to two million, with some higher. This marker represents villages across China.
