On the Mao’s China map as “The January Storm”
Jan–Feb 1967 — With Mao’s blessing, rebel workers led by Wang Hongwen and backed by Zhang Chunqiao seized power from Shanghai’s Party committee. They proclaimed the Shanghai People’s Commune on 5 February. Within three weeks Mao had it renamed a revolutionary committee, establishing the model of power seizure followed by the rest of China.
