Learn from Dazhai campaign (1964)
On the Mao’s China map as “Dazhai”
Dec 1964 — In this Shanxi hill brigade, people had terraced the gullies by collective labor under Chen Yonggui. Dazhai was now held up as a national model: “In agriculture, learn from Dazhai.” Its achievements were partly real and partly inflated, and state help was kept quiet. It remained the model of politics-first farming until 1980.
