Sack of Baramulla (1947)
On the Indian independence map as “Baramulla”
27 Oct 1947 — The Pathan lashkar had been sent through Baramulla, but instead sacked it. Its attacks included massacre and abduction, and the convent was among the targets. Looting cost the force its race for Srinagar’s airfield. This was the first atrocity of the first Kashmir war. Remember them.
