Galang refugee camp (1979–96)

On the Refugee crises map as “Galang”

1979–96 — Indonesia provided Galang, an island south of Singapore, for a UNHCR processing camp. It was the kind of center promised at the Geneva meeting. Well over 100,000 Indochinese passed through on their way to new countries; the grounds are now a memorial park.
