26 Dec 1907 — At Surat, Congress broke into Moderates and Extremists. Chairs were thrown on the floor of the session, and the meeting was abandoned. The dispute over constitutional petition and mass pressure would continue until 1947.

— Christmas truce
24-26 Dec 1914 — On stretches of the front, soldiers leave their positions, exchange tobacco and bury their dead. Several accounts also describe games of football. Commands on both sides ensure that the truce never happens again.

— Xi’an Incident
12–26 Dec 1936 — Chiang Kai-shek’s own marshal kidnaps him and holds him until he agrees to stop fighting the communists and face Japan. The resulting United Front makes the coming war a national one.
