Sozak uprising (1930)
On the Stalin’s Soviet Union map as “The Sozak uprising”
Feb 1930 — Confiscations and collectivization brought armed Kazakh herders into revolt in the Sozak district of southern Kazakhstan. They seized the district center and killed officials; within ten days troops crushed the uprising, killing about 300 rebels. Kazakh historians count hundreds of risings across the steppe in 1929–31.
