Gorky Automobile Plant (GAZ) (1932)
On the Stalin’s Soviet Union map as “The Gorky car plant”
Jan 1932 — With Ford’s help, a car plant was built on the Volga at Nizhny Novgorod, which was renamed Gorky that year. It began by making copies of Ford’s Model AA truck; copies of the Model A car followed in December. The workers’ housing in its new “socialist city” was intended to show the life promised by the plans.
