Evacuation to Kuibyshev (1941)

On the Stalin’s Soviet Union map as “Kuibyshev”

Oct 1941 — German forces were nearing Moscow when the government, foreign embassies and the Bolshoi Theatre were evacuated to Kuibyshev on the Volga. A deep bunker was later dug there for Stalin, but he never used it. He stayed in Moscow, a decision that steadied the panicking capital.
