Potemkin mutiny (1905)

Jun 1905 — The crew of a Black Sea battleship kills its officers in a dispute over maggoty meat, then raises the red flag off Odessa. The mutiny fails, but it reveals something alarming for the autocracy: even the navy, one of its shields, can turn against it.
