The Relf sisters (1973)

14 Jun 1973 — At a federally funded clinic in Montgomery, sisters Minnie Lee and Mary Alice Relf, aged twelve and fourteen, are surgically sterilised after their mother, who could not read, marks an X on a form. Their case exposes the coerced sterilisation of poor women.
