Siege of Kozelsk (1238)
On the Mongol Empire map as “Kozelsk”
Spring 1238 — A minor town holds the horde for seven weeks, defended by mud and ramparts. When Kozelsk falls, every inhabitant is killed. The Mongols call it “the evil city” and forbid its name. Its people chose to resist, and paid a terrible price.
