Suppression of counter-revolutionaries (1951)
On the Mao’s China map as “The 1951 mass trials”
Spring 1951 — Cities stage public trials in stadiums and squares after the Party’s “Double Tenth” directive of October 1950. Some trials are broadcast live on radio, and they end in executions. A 1954 public-security report counted 712,000 people executed in the campaign; Yang Kuisong argues that the true total was higher. The marker stands for every city where this happened.
