Hanyang No. 1 Middle School incident (1957)
On the Mao’s China map as “Hanyang No. 1 Middle School”
Jun–Sep 1957 — At Hanyang No. 1 Middle School, pupils protested that so few could continue to senior school and marched on the county offices. The authorities called the protest a “little Hungarian incident”. After a mass rally in September, a vice-principal, a teacher and a county official were executed; others were jailed. All were rehabilitated in 1986.
