Jinnah rebuilds the Muslim League (1936–37)
On the Indian independence map as “Bombay — Jinnah rebuilds the League”
1936–37 — Jinnah returned from self-exile in London and rebuilt the Muslim League for the 1937 elections. The League won under 5% of the Muslim vote, while Congress swept the general seats and saw no need to share office. Historians argue that this refusal helped make Jinnah the leader he became.

Earlier chapters use it explicitly as a nearby-date reference, rather than reconstructing local state transfers as exact dated surveys.
Provincial outlines bring together the published provincial grouping, the 1908 princely patchwork and complete successor districts. Bihar/Orissa are separate, Vidarbha is in Central Provinces/Berar, and northern Karnataka is in Bombay.
The treaty/paramountcy patchwork provides a political reference. Hatches for famine, violence and rebellion locate affected reporting regions rather than areas of uniform territorial possession.
