Site 2 refugee camp (1985–93)

On the Refugee crises map as “Site 2”

Jan 1985–1993 — Vietnam’s dry-season offensive destroyed the border camps, and their people were moved to Site 2, a few kilometers inside Thailand. At its peak in 1989 the camp held almost 200,000 residents, making it one of the largest Cambodian settlements anywhere. A resistance faction ran the camp, and its residents were forbidden to leave.
