Lidice massacre (1942)

On the Refugee crises map as “Lidice”

10 Jun 1942 — German police exact reprisals for the assassination of Reinhard Heydrich at the Czech village of Lidice. They shoot its 173 men, send the women to Ravensbrück, murder most of the children and raze the village. Memories of occupation, including atrocities like this one, shaped how Czechs judged their German neighbors in 1945. Remember them.
