Ingólfr Arnarson’s farm at Reykjavík (874)

On the Norse and Aztecs map as “Reykjavík — Ingólfr’s farm”

874 — Landnámabók identifies Ingólfr Arnarson as Iceland’s first permanent Norse settler. According to its account, he threw his hall’s high-seat pillars overboard and built his farm here after following their drift. Archaeologists have found settlement remains just above the Landnám ash layer.
