Cuauhnahuac (Cuernavaca) (1430s)

On the Norse and Aztecs map as “Cuauhnahuac — cotton cloth”

1430s — Itzcoatl conquered the warm valleys of Cuauhnahuac, now Cuernavaca. Their lower altitude and warmer climate allowed cotton and other crops to grow where the frost-prone basin could not produce them. Cuauhnahuac paid tribute to Tenochtitlan in cotton cloaks.
