Battle of Xiang River (1934)
On the Chinese Revolution map as “The Xiang River”
25 Nov–3 Dec 1934 — The breakout column numbers 86,000 and carries its archives and arsenal with it, like a state on the move. Caught while crossing the Xiang River, it loses perhaps half its people. The disaster discredits the leadership that ordered the crossing and helps set the course toward Zunyi.
