Bombing of Chongqing (1938–43)

On the Chinese Revolution map as “The bombing of Chungking”

1938–43 — The wartime capital in the Sichuan gorges endured over 200 raids, becoming the most-bombed city on earth up to that time. Thousands died on single nights; in June 1941, 4,000 suffocated in one tunnel shelter. The government stayed in Chungking and did not surrender. Remember the shelters.
