Leningrad affair (1946–50)

On the Stalin’s Soviet Union map as “The Leningrad Affair”

1946–1950 — Leningrad came under attack first in literary life and then in its political leadership. Zhdanov’s August 1946 decree against the journals Zvezda and Leningrad expelled Akhmatova and Zoshchenko from literary life. In the subsequent “Leningrad Affair”, former city leaders, including Kuznetsov and Voznesensky, were shot in 1950.
