Middle Passage (1780s)
On the Haiti and Kenya independence map as “The Middle Passage”
1780s — Captives taken from West and West-Central Africa spent six to ten weeks crossing to Saint-Domingue. Roughly one in ten died at sea. Even so, in the late 1780s ships landed about 30,000 survivors in the colony each year. Remember them.
