Thule and Norse contact, Ruin Island (c. 1300)

On the Norse and Aztecs map as “Ruin Island — Thule and Norse”

c. 1300 — On Ruin Island and nearby coasts in Greenland’s far northwest, Thule Inuit sites contain Norse iron, cloth and fragments of chain mail. The objects are evidence of contact, trade or scavenging between Inuit and Norse in the High Arctic as the Inuit moved south; conflict or recovery from abandoned places are among the possible routes by which objects changed hands.
