Second Zhili–Fengtian War (1924)
On the Chinese Revolution map as “Shanhaiguan”
Sep–Nov 1924 — At the pass where the Great Wall meets the sea, Zhili and Fengtian, the two great northern cliques, fight the largest war of the era. Perhaps 450,000 men take part, supported by artillery, aircraft and armored trains. The decision comes through betrayal: Feng Yuxiang seizes Beijing at midnight. In this struggle, armies are capital and war a business.
