1947 — Karachi — Pakistan is born
14 Aug 1947 — Jinnah, Governor-General at last, takes the salute in the new capital. Three days earlier he told the Constituent Assembly: “You may belong to any religion or caste or creed — that has nothing to do with the business of the State.”
