Saltaire (1851–53)

1851–1853 — Titus Salt leaves smoky Bradford for the Aire, moving his worsted works to a model village. Stone terraces, baths, a hospital and schools provide for its residents; there is no pub. Salt's paternalism offers one answer to the problems of the industrial town.
