Cuetlaxtlan (1450s–1460s)

1450s–1460s — After the famine of the 1450s, the empire conquered Cuetlaxtlan, a warm province on the Gulf coast. Its tribute included cacao, cotton cloth and other goods. Produce from this different climate became part of the empire’s insurance against harvest failures in the cold basin.
