On the Feminism and the Tunisian Revolution map as “Monastir”
1903 — Habib Bourguiba is born in Monastir, a port town in the Sahel. For half a century the coastal Sahel—Sousse, Monastir and Mahdia—supplies much of Tunisia’s governing elite. Bourguiba is buried here in a gilded mausoleum in 2000.
